conscience Omar Ruiz Hernandez was exposed to
the tuberculosis virus on purpose,when taken to
a hospital in Ciego the Ávila last September
15th.
Ruiz Fernández, an independent journalist with
the Grupo de Trabajo Decoro, was transported to
a doctor's appointment locked in a van with no
ventilation, along with three common prisoners
and one of them with tuberculosis Phase 3,
coughing constantly, and thereby, contaminating
the small space consisting of three meters by
1,20 meters high in which they traveled.
Even the doctors of the Canaleta prison did not
agree with the exposure of regular patients with
TB patients, declared the wife of the prisoner
of conscience Bárbara Rojo Arias.
Omar had been asking for an appointment with an
ophthalmologist at the provincial hospital
¨Antonio Sánchez Iraola¨ due to retina
detachment, for the last five months to no
avail.
The lady in white and wife of the prisoner is of
the opinion
that- ¨the manner in which her husband was
exposed to tuberculosis is nothing more than an
inhumane conspiracy the father of her only
child, who has gallantly defended his
principles, without making any concessions to
the regime, within the injustice which
symbolizes his imprisonment¨.
Bárbara Rojo Arias makes the Cuban government
responsible for any future contamination of her
husband, that of her eight years old son Frank
Samuel, and that of herself with the above
mentioned disease, for they will not stop
visiting her husband under any circumstance.
Last September 20th, Omar contacted his
relatives over the telephone to inform them that
he became ill with a sudden cold and also had
fever.

Hernandez was unjustly sentenced to 20 years in
prison during Cuba's Black Spring that lasted
from March and April of 2003.

conciencia Omar Ruiz Hernández, sufrió un
intento de infección por tuberculosis, al ser
llevado a un hospital de Ciego de Avila, el 15
de septiembre último.
Ruiz Hernández, también periodista del Grupo de
Trabajo Decoro fue introducido en unas
furgonetas totalmente cerradas usadas para el
traslado de presos junto a un trío de reclusos
comunes. Uno de ellos es un enfermo
diagnosticado como tuberculoso Fase- 3, el cual
iba tosiendo constantemente contaminando un
espacio de 3 metros de largo por 1,20 de alto.
Los propios médicos de la prisión avileña
Canaletas no estuvieron de acuerdo con que
juntaran en una misma área cerrada para respirar
a tuberculosos y otros pacientes, al ser
consultados vía teléfono por la esposa del
prisionero Bárbara Rojo Arias.
Omar, hacia 5 meses que reclamaba una consulta
de oftalmología en el hospital provincial
"Antonio Sánchez Iraola", por un desprendimiento
de retina, lo que por las denuncias hechas con
respecto a la indolencia con la enfermedad de su
cónyuge, tenían contrariadas a las autoridades
penitenciarias.
La Dama de Blanco, tiene la opinión: "Que todo
no es mas que una inhumana y alevosa
conspiración contra el padre de su único hijo,
que ha sabido defender sus principios, sin hacer
concesiones al régimen, dentro de la injusticia
que simboliza su encierro".
Rojo Arias, hace responsable al gobierno cubano
de una posible contaminación de su esposo, su
pequeño hijo Frank Samuel de 8 años de edad así
como de ella misma, por que lo continuarán
visitando bajo cualquier circunstancia.
Al momento de la confección de esta nota
informativa, el recluso político se había
comunicado con sus familiares, el 20 del
presente mes, para informarles del padecimiento
de un repentino estado gripal y febril.
Omar Moisés Ruiz Hernández, fue condenado a 20
años de privación de libertad durante "La
Primavera Negra de Cuba", de marzo-abril del
2003.
